Harford County, along with the State of Maryland and the federal government, provide financial and tax incentives to those individuals who accept the task of rehabilitating a historic property.
The building must be a certified historic structure, defined as having at least one of the following official designations:
- Individually listed in the National Register of Historic Places
- A contributing resource within a National Register Historic District
- A Harford County Historic Landmark (local designations)
- A property located within a certified heritage area and certified by the Maryland Heritage Area Authority as contributing to the significance of the certified heritage area.
